Being a Swim Parent
All of us a JAWS Swim Shop can say “chlorine is our perfume” and mean it! We are all swimmers, and are or have been volunteers in an assortment of roles: USA Official, meet directors, team fund raisers, USA Swim Club Board members, car pool drivers, timers, high school boosters, and the role we love the most-parents of swimmers.
As a swim parent, the most important thing you can do is support your swimmer both in and out of the pool….and feed them nutritiously! It also helps to understand some basics about the sport your child enjoys and learn about it as they do.
USA Swimming offers swim parents some informational articles, answers your questions and is a great resource for swim parents of age-group swimmers. Find out about swim meet basics, swim coaches and why they train as they do, sports injuries and treatments, nutrition and more.
The support you give your swimmers is a key factor in fostering enjoyment and learning as well as contributing to the child’s success in the pool.
